And hey, this time it wasn't even a full moon!
I'm on holiday for two weeks. I am kind of missing my coworkers, but I'll tell you something - I won't miss the madness.
Seriously. People are asking for weirder things all the time. These are from the past two weeks.
Seriously. People are asking for weirder things all the time. These are from the past two weeks.
- I had a man ask us if we had copies of Microsoft Office he could borrow to install on his computer. (um, illegal much?) (This is, sadly, really common. People are just not getting the whole copyright thing.)
- And a kid tell me that she had a project to do about Canada and did I have any magazines she could cut up? NO!
- Another woman asked for books on not bullying. I gave her a few good picture books on the topic. She came back to say that these were about bullying, and she needed ones on NOT bullying...
- I was also asked for Advil for a headache. I told her I could not give drugs out to patrons, even if I had some. It's not drugs, she argued, it's medicine. Um, that would be drugs, lady. Argh.
- And then there was the man whose car got stuck in the (well-signed) parking lot he was not supposed to park in and came in to ask if we could help him push his car out. Me, I do think my duties for manual labour stop at the door.

awww. Have fun at the Holiday Concert.
Enjoy the concert and believe me, we could totally swap "the crazy public" stories, except mine are all criminals. I had a guy last week, who, after being arrested by the police for possession of a drug asked the police for his drugs back. Uh no sir, you can't have them back. That's why they arrested you in the first place.
yup, people are whacky. enjoy your time off.
A book on non bullying. Haha, that's a good one.
if those are the people you deal with on a regular basis you NEED a couple of weeks off. enjoy them!
Holy crap, those as some mad crazy folks you have to deal with. However, if I'd known that the library was *that* full service, perhaps I would have saved myself thousands of dollars in purchased books (and Tylenol) and hit the library instead. [very big grin]
I'm still laughing about the book on not-bullying.
I want a how-to book on bullying.
I'm probably one of those people. I asked the bank teller the other day if they sold stamps.
The bullying book cracked me up.
Some please swear by the rule that you never know unless you ask. What drives me crazy is when you know the answer but your higher ups insist that you ask crazy questions. I'd rather push a car.
Enjoy two weeks without the usual insanity!
My crazies stories these days all have to do with bad customer service.
Have a great vacation!
Have fun at the concert - I kinda have to admire the man who asked for the software - now that's CHUTZPAH!
What I would have given to be able to see the look on your face when that woman came back to return the books on bullying and ask for ones about NOT bullying.
That would have been the best Christmas present EVER.
The NOT bullying thing is hilarious. So very funny.
Enjoy your vacation!
I love the not bullying one too. I get that a bit. Or I did back when I had a job. : > Happy Holidays!
I don't get why you library folks are so stodgy about cutting up the magazines - geeesh ;)
Happy Happy Vacation Kittenpie
Yeah! Two weeks off! I hope you have some wall-knocking down, gift buying, good 'ol holiday fun!
One day I'll take a true vacation and do NOTHING. One day soon I hope. Happy holidays Kittenpie!
You should give her a cookbook. Cookbooks are almost never about bullying.
The moms in my moms group seem terribly pre-occupied with not wanting their children to read books that will teach them bad behaviour. It baffles me. Still, a book on bullying? Now that would be a find.
